Melissa May is the author of Sparklefat, a poet, and a clinical mental health practitioner. She is a multi-time Women of the World Poetry Slam finalist, winner of the individual round at Southwest Shootout, and placed 3rd at the Individual World Poetry Slam. Melissa’s work has appeared in anthologies such as Write Bloody’s Aim for the Head, and her poem “Dear Ursula” was featured by Upworthy after being filmed and uploaded by Button Poetry. Her work focuses on the relationship between the body, the world, and the inner world, and how these bleed into one another fluidly to create our experiences and perceptions.
