REGISTRATION - ALL FESTIVALS

Yes, registration is required for all attendees. To complete the registration process, you will need to bring a valid photo ID or a copy of the same.

A person can register online by filling in an online form available on the festival website. Then, a valid photo ID will be required to get the Festival Access Tag at the venue. Alternatively, you can register on ground at the venue.

You will receive a confirmation via email and/or SMS.

At the Festival venue, present your code, email or SMS, along with a valid photo ID card at the Festival Registration Desk to receive your Festival Access Tag, which must be worn for the duration of the entire Festival.

If you damage or misplace your Festival Access Tag, the registration process will need to be redone and a fee may be charged to replace the tag.

Only persons aged above 12 years need to be registered individually. Children under the age of 12 years may attend the Festival if a guardian or parent has registered and accompanies the child throughout the Festival. Please carry a valid ID card (or photocopy) of the child.

Yes, you can register multiple people on a single email.

No, Festival Access Tags cannot be collected before the Festival dates.

Everyone (including children) is required to carry a valid photo identification of themselves (photocopies will be accepted) to complete their registration. Please bring your registration code or a printed copy of your registration confirmation email as well, if registered prior to the Festival. Absence of any required documents may result in refusal of entry.

FACILITIES - ALL FESTIVALS

JLF features a programme of riveting debate and discussion, readings and poetry, music and food with some of the world’s finest minds. As a general participant, you will be able to attend the multitude of sessions taking place across the various sub-venues within the Festival, interact with speakers after their sessions, get books signed by authors, and attend any music and dance performances which are part of the Festival schedule. Do bear in mind that entry to and seating at sessions is on a first-come-first-served basis.

Yes, the Festival can be accessed by wheelchair.

Yes, children can attend the Festival but they must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times.

Festival merchandise can be bought at the Festival Store.

Yes, there are a number of food stalls at the Festival serving a variety of cuisines and beverages for anyone wishing to purchase a snack/meal. Water will be available for purchase as well. Alternatively, you can bring your own water bottle.

The Festival Directors are Namita Gokhale and William Dalrymple and the Festival is produced by Teamwork Arts, which produces over 25 highly acclaimed performing arts, visual arts and literary festivals in India, Australia, Canada, Egypt, Hong Kong, South Africa, the United Kingdom, USA and other countries. JLF has editions in London, England; Belfast, Ireland; Boulder, USA; Houston, USA; New York, USA; Adelaide, Australia; and Toronto, Canada. Every year, more locations are added to this list.

Do keep checking the Festival website for regular updates. Sometimes, the programme schedule does change.

No, we do not allow nor encourage reservation of seats at any session.

APPLICATIONS – SPEAKER, VOLUNTEER & PRESS - ALL FESTIVALS

The Festival format does not allow submissions as programming. Featured speakers are pre-determined by the Festival Directors.

Anybody above the age of 18 with a valid photo ID card can volunteer at JLF. While preference is given to local residents, all are welcome to apply! If interested, please complete and submit the online application form on our website. Shortlisted applicants will be called for an interview prior to Festival. Applicants are shortlisted on the basis of their work experience, statement of purpose and understanding of the local demographics. It is mandatory for all shortlisted volunteers to attend all training and orientation sessions prior to the Festival.

TICKETS - ONLY FOR HOUSTON, NEW YORK, BRITISH LIBRARY, BELFAST, TORONTO?

Yes, you will need to purchase a ticket to attend the Festival. Children below the age of 12 years don’t need to purchase a ticket, but, they do need to have a valid photo ID proving their age.

Tickets for all JLF Festivals can be purchased on our website jlflitfest.com or at the venue on the Festival days.

Tickets are priced fairly and are of different kinds. For example, senior citizens and students pay less. To book your tickets now, click the 'Book Tickets' button on the Festival page.

  • Visit jlflitfest.com. Go to the page of the Festival you wish to attend. Click on 'Book Tickets'.
  • Complete the Festival Registration Form (Fill in your name, age, address and email ID).
  • Complete Ticket Payment using a credit or debit card.
  • You will receive a confirmation email.
  • On the day of the Festival, verify confirmation email and valid photo ID at Festival Registration Desk.
  • You will receive a Festival Access Tag, with which you can enter the Festival venue.

  • Visit the Festival Registration Desk.
  • Complete the Festival Registration Form (Fill in your name, age, address and email ID).
  • Verify valid photo ID at Festival Registration Desk.
  • Complete Ticket Payment using a credit or debit card or cash.
  • You will receive a Festival Access Tag, with which you can enter the Festival venue.

Tickets, once purchased, cannot be transferred to another person, nor can they be cancelled.

All tickets are linked to the personal details of the purchaser, and therefore cannot be used by another person.

FRIENDS OF THE FESTIVAL - ALL FESTIVALS

The Friend of the Festival package is an exclusive Festival experience. By paying a small fee, Friends of the Festival are entitled to a range of goodies and privileges. These benefits may vary from festival to festival. Visit the ‘Become a Friend of the Festival’ section on our Festival pages to know more.

You can become a Friend of the Festival by purchasing a Friend of the Festival package on the Festival website. Alternatively, you can purchase a Friend of the Festival package on-ground at the venue on the day of the Festival.

A Festival Donor is a key supporter of the Festival. A Festival Donor is someone who has supported the Festival with a significant financial contribution. In return, Festival Donors are featured in our brochure, social media, and print communications; given access to exclusive areas of the Festival; invited to private events, and given special treatment through their time at the Festival, apart from a host of other benefits.
