PRETI TANEJA(2018)

Preti Taneja‘s debut novel We That Are Young draws on Shakespeare’s King Lear to present a fierce, poetic, political exposé of life in India today. Written in six immersive voices and ranging from New Delhi to Kashmir, it captures the lasting ravages of colonialism, the rise of toxic masculinity and a world going mad as a new generation come of age. It was a book of the year in The Sunday Times, the Guardian, The Hindu, the Spectator and Scroll.in. In 2018, it was shortlisted for the Republic of Consciousness Prize for Small Presses and longlisted for the Jhalak Prize, the Folio Prize and the Desmond Elliot Prize.
