Tony Diaz(2023)
Tony Diaz, El Librotraficante, is a Cultural Accelerator, writer, activist, and the first Chicano to earn a MFA degree from the University of Houston. In 1998, he founded Nuestra Palabra: Latino Writers Having Their Say (NP), Houston’s first Latino author reading series. When Arizona officials banned Mexican American Studies, Diaz and NP members led the 2012 Librotraficante Caravan and smuggled books into Arizona. He is the author of The Aztec Love God and The Tip of the Pyramid.
