Rom Whitaker

Rom Whitaker was born in New York and came to India at the age of 8 with his mother Doris and step-father Rama, son of Kamaladevi and Harindranath Chattopadhyaya. Whitaker set up Madras Snake Park in 1969, Crocodile Bank in 1976, Andamans Environmental Trust in 1989, Agumbe Rainforest Research Station in 2005. His awards include an Emmy, the Whitley Fund for Nature, a Rolex and a Padma Shri.
