Wayne Phillips(2018)

Wayne Phillips is a former batsman/wicket keeper who has represented both state and Australia over the course of a first class career that spanned 13 years from 1977 to 1991.
Phillips was a natural stroke maker. It was this confidence as well as a willingness to sacrifice himself for the good of his team that was integral in his emergence as a successful opener for South Australia in the early 1980s and in his elevation to Test level at the start of the 1983-84 international season.
Phillips’ commanding 159 against Pakistan in Perth made him only the 14th Australian in Test history to make a century on debut.
In a remarkable career he toured India , England, Pakistan, the West Indies and New Zealand.
