Tharik Hussain(2023)

Tharik Hussain is an author specialising in Muslim heritage and culture and a recipient of the British Guild of Travel Writers' Adele Evans Award for his book, Minarets in the Mountains; A Journey into Muslim Europe, which was also shortlisted for the 2022 Edward Stanford Travel Book of the Year award and longlisted for the 2021 Baillie Gifford Prize in nonfiction. It was named a Book of the Year by the Times Literary Supplement. Tharik has produced award-winning radio for the BBC and published by The Guardian, Al Jazeera, the BBC, National Geographic Traveller and The Sunday Telegraph. He is now working on his next book looking at how Islam came to Europe. Tharik is a fellow of the Centre for Religion and Heritage at the University of Groningen in the Netherlands and the Royal Geographical Society in London.
