


Namita Gokhale
Namita Gokhale is the co-founder and co- director of the Jaipur Literature Festival and the author of twenty-five works of fiction and non-fiction. Her iconic debut novel, Paro: Dreams of Passion, published in 1984 by Chatto & Windus, was issued as a Penguin Modern Classic in India and has been re-republished in the UK by HopeRoad. Recent fiction includes Never Never Land, and collected stories - Life on Mars. The Whispering Mountains: Himalayan Folk Tales is another recent work of hers. Gokhale’s writing spans different genres, including novels, short fiction, Himalayan studies, mythology, several anthologies, books for young readers, and a play. Gokhale is committed to platforming literary dialogue and showcasing the rich diversity of multilingual Indian identity . She is the recipient of various prizes and awards, including the prestigious Sahitya Akademi (National Academy of Literature) Award 2021 for her novel Things to Leave Behind.
