Swati Thiyagarajan is a multi award-winning conservation journalist, documentary filmmaker and author. She worked as the Environment Editor at NDTV. Her show, Born Wild, was the longest running show on conservation and wildlife on a news channel and the first wildlife show to be helmed by an all women’s team in the field. She lives in Cape Town at present and is the author of Born Wild, Journeys into the Wild Hearts of India and Africa. She was Associate Producer and Production Manager on the Academy Award-winning My Octopus Teacher. Her film, which she co-directed with her husband Craig Foster, The Animal Communicator, is available on Amazon Prime in the US. She now works for The Sea Change Project, a NPO working towards the long-term conservation of the Great African Seaforest, the habitat showcased in My Octopus Teacher. She believes that deep immersive experiences in nature , storytelling and reconnecting people in a meaningful way to the natural world is the way forward.
