Makarand R. Paranjape(2021)

Makarand R. Paranjape has been Professor of English at Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, since 1999. He also served as Director, Indian Institute of Advanced Study, Shimla. Earlier, he taught at IIT-Delhi and the central University of Hyderabad. He was educated at St. Stephen’s College, Delhi, and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where he got a Masters and PhD in English. He is the author/editor of some 50 books, in addition to over 175 academic papers, and over 1000 articles in newspapers and popular periodicals. He is also a poet and novelist. His latest books include Swami Vivekananda: Hinduism and India’s Road to Modernity, New Perspectives in Indian Science and Civilization, Debating the 'Post' Condition in India and The Death and Afterlife of Mahatma Gandhi. Paranjape is currently a columnist in Open Magazine, Gulf News, The New Indian Express, and The Print.
