Karan Thapar(2020)

Karan Thapar trained as a correspondent, producer, editor and presenter in the United Kingdom. He currently heads Infotainment Television, a production house that makes programmes for the BBC, Channel NewsAsia, CNBC, CNN News 18 and Doordarshan. Thapar has presented the BBC series HARDtalk INDIA, modelled on the lines of the BBC’s long standing programme. His other accolades include numerous Asian Television Awards, the Ramnath Goenka Excellence in Journalism Award, the International Press Institute – India Award for Excellence in Journalism in 2013 and, most recently, the 2017 G.K. Reddy Memorial Award for Excellence in Journalism. Since 2004, Thapar has presented India Tonight on CNBC. In 2006, he launched the primetime interview programme Devil’s Advocate on CNN News 18. Also a columnist, he writes for the Hindustan Times. His ‘Sunday Sentiments’ columns have been published as three books along with a collection of his ‘Face to Face’ interviews for the BBC. He has also been involved with making shows for India Today over the past few years.
