Gagan Sood is an assistant professor in International History at the London School of Economics. He specialises in the history of the Middle East and South Asia, and has recently published a monograph entitled India and the Islamic Heartlands: An Eighteenth-Century World of Circulation and Exchange with Cambridge University Press. Dr. Sood is currently working on a new book about governance under the Mughal and Ottoman empires in the seventeenth century.
