Diana Darke is a cultural historian of the Middle East and author of My House in Damascus, The Merchant of Syria, The Ottomans: A Cultural Legacy, Stealing from the Saracens and Islamesque. Darke’s current research explores the myriad architectural borrowings from the Islamic world in Europe’s medieval monasteries and cathedrals.
