Sharmila Tagore(2019)

Sharmila Tagore began her acting career in 1957 with Satyajit Ray’s Apur Sansar and has since acted in over 100 Bengali and Hindi films. In 1999, the Government of France honored her by making her an Officer de L’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres. In 2012, she was conferred the Padma Bhushan, India’s third highest civilian award. In 2017, she was invited by the prestigious Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to be its member. Apart from acting, she has been, and remains, actively involved in social work both in India and abroad.
