Sanjena Sathian is the author of Gold Diggers, which was listed in the Top 10 Best Books of 2021 by The Washington Post. It was also the Best Book of 2021 by NPR, Electric Literature, and Amazon, and a New York Times Editors’ Choice. The book was also longlisted for the Center for Fiction’s First Novel Prize, and has been nominated for the Georgia Author of the Year Award. Sathian is working on the TV adaptation of the book with Mindy Kaling’s production company, Kaling International. Her short fiction appears or is forthcoming in The Atlantic, Conjunctions, Boulevard, The Southern Humanities Review, Salt Hill Journal, and more, and will be anthologized in The Best American Short Stories 2022. She’s also written nonfiction for The New Yorker, The New York Times, The Drift, Lithub, and more. She’s a graduate of the Iowa Writers’ Workshop. Beginning this fall, she will be a Fiction Fellow at Emory University.
