Anchee Min(2015)
Anchee Min is the author of Red Azalea (a memoir), Becoming Madam Mao, Empress Orchid, Last Empress, Pearl of China and The Cooked Seed (a memoir). Anchee Min was born in China and was 17 years old when she was sent to a labor collective near East China Sea. In 1976, she was picked by Madam Mao to feature as a lead in a propaganda film. Min was denounced after Madam Mao’s down fall. Min came to America in 1984 on a student visa without knowing English or any money. In ten years she became America’s best-selling author.
