What We Carry
Maya Shanbhag Lang in conversation with Supriya Dravid
The mother-daughter relationship has been studied and documented in textbooks of psychology, in autobiographical works, in novels and in drama. It is one of the most fundamental of relationships that allows us to form the web of connections that will allow us to relate to the larger world outside the family unit. In her book, What We Carry: A Memoir, Maya Shanbhag Lang examines what happens when we are forced to question the veracity of what we always assumed to be true within the sacred ring of this relationship. Lang has previously received a number of awards for her writing and was longlisted for The Center of Fiction First Novel Prize, a finalist for the Audie Award for Best Audio Book and won the Neil Shepard Prize in Fiction. In conversation with Supriya Dravid.
