Shivshankar Menon
Shivshankar Menon is currently a Visiting Professor at Ashoka University, Chairman of the Advisory Board at the Institute of Chinese Studies, aDistinguished Visiting Research Fellow at the National University of Singapore, Member of the Board of Trustees at International Crisis Group and a Distinguished Fellow at the Asia Society Policy Institute.He served as national security advisor to the Prime Minister of India from January 2010 to May 2014 and previously as Foreign Secretary of India from October 2006 to August 2009. A career diplomat, he has served as Ambassador or High Commissioner of India to Israel, Sri Lanka, China and Pakistan. He has also served in India’s missions to the International Atomic Energy Agency in Vienna and in the Department of Atomic Energy in Mumbai. In 2010, he was chosen by Foreign Policy magazine as one of the world’s Top 100 Global Thinkers. His book, Choices: Inside the Making of Indian Foreign Policy, was published in 2016.
