Land Where I Flee

Prajwal Parajuly in conversation Elaine Canning

Humans are a nomadic species and migrations remain a constant part of the human experience. Presenting an eternal battle between the search for home versus the need for individual freedom, celebrated author Prajwal Parajuly’s Land Where I Flee has recently been shortlisted for France’s Emile Guimet Prize and provides an intrinsic view into the politics of caste, class, gender and sexuality in this story based in Gangtok. Parajuly has also authored The Gurkha's Daughter and has been a judge for the Dylan Thomas Prize. Parajuly navigates through exile and discovery, alienation and acceptance and how his own history has impacted his writing journey.
