Daisy Rockwell paints and blogs under the nom de plume “Lapata,” which means “missing” or “disappeared” in Urdu. Her paintings have been exhibited widely, and are featured in her publication The Little Book of Terror, a volume of paintings and essays on the global war on terror. She has also published a novel, Taste, and a critical biography of the Hindi author Upendranath Ashk. She has a PhD in South Asian literature from the University of Chicago and translates from Hindi and Urdu literature. Her translation publications include Bhisham Sahni’s Tamas and Upendranath Ashk’s Falling Walls.
