Reba Som is a historian and an author, whose books include Differences within Consensus: The Left-Right Divide in the Congress; Subhas Chandra Bose and the Resolution of the Women’s Question; Gandhi, Bose, Nehru and the Making of the Modern Indian Mind; Rabindranath Tagore: The Singer and His Song and Margot: Sister Nivedita of Vivekananda. Som is a trained singer of Rabindrasangeet and Nazrul Geeti. Her albums, Selected Songs of Rabindranath Tagore and Love Songs of Kazi Nazrul Islam, also feature her English translations of the lyrics.
